International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 494 was formed in June of 1906 and permanently chartered on May 11, 1911. IBEW Local 494 is a labor union representing approximately 2300 members. It represents workers in construction, manufacturing, municipal, and maintenance. Since its formation, it has been promoting better wages, working conditions, and safety for its members and everyone working in the electrical industry. Local 494 conducts apprenticeship programs for electricians and sound and communication technicians. It also offers continuing education classes for its members. IBEW local 494 members pride themselves on being quality-conscience and highly skilled. Local 494 is committed to improving the working conditions and providing employment to all electrical workers in the counties that it serves: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington, Ozaukee, Fond du Lac, and Sheboygan. As the demand for highly skilled and qualified electrical workers rises in our area, IBEW Local 494 will be there to lead the way providing a work force with livable wages and benefits.
