Job Summary: The Apprentice Shop Service Technician will perform on-the-job training (OJT) while learning and developing as a technician. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices daily: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources;
3)
Participate in ongoing self-development.
Essential Functions:
•
Gains knowledge of and assists with the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment
•
Assists with installation, repairs, maintenance, and replacement of mechanical and electrical components
•
Examines and test equipment, components, and parts to ensure the proper functioning
•
Adjusts, connects, or disconnects wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts
•
Attends Technical and Soft Skill classes and successfully incorporates skills learned
•
Maintains safety training and procedures
•
Receives coaching, mentoring, and feedback from service leadership
•
Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
•
Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
•
Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•
Knowledge of basic arithmetic and its applications
•
Knowledge of computer software and hardware applications
•
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
•
Ability to read, write, and interpret information
•
Ability to follow directions and guidelines
•
Ability to receive coaching, mentoring, and feedback from Service Leadership
•
Ability to learn many different types of repair procedures on a variety of mechanical equipment
•
Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
•
Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
Education and Experience:
•
High school diploma or equivalent required
Supervisory Responsibilities:
•
None
Travel:
•
Very limited travel and overnight stays are expected for this position
Physical Requirements:
•
Visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, and manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment
•
Routinely moves materials or equipment
