What You’ll Do:
•
Operate assigned equipment safety and effectively
•
Maintain valid NCCER Mobile Crane Operator and/or NCCER Tower specific to the crane being used
•
Keep informed of legislation and policies/ procedures related to crane operation
•
Utilize crane controls to regulate speed, direction and hoist movement of crane
•
Assist with rigging loads and moving material, tools and equipment to and from the work area
•
Assure all loads are properly rigged to the crane
•
Follow all instructions in lifting plans, load chars, operation manuals and permits
•
Proficient in crane operation
•
Perform daily safety and maintenance checks on equipment before operation
•
Clean and maintain equipment as required
•
Ensure equipment is stored safely when not in use
•
Report any maintenance or repair needs to appropriate supervisor
What We’re Looking For:
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each previously stated duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and ability necessary to succeed in this role.
•
Education: High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
•
Certification: Completion of apprenticeship program required (where available)
•
Experience: Three to seven years related experience and/or training specific to the equipment being operated
Special Qualifications:
•
Certified Crane Operator by NCCO or NCCER
•
Experienced with 150 Ton and Larger Lattice Boom Crawler Cranes
•
Advanced rigging/ flagging skills
•
Ability to pass crane competency test
•
Situational awareness
Language Skills:
A qualified candidate must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints and specifications,
safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Candidate must also be able to
write routine correspondence and speak effectively with customers and co-workers. Ability to listen and follow direction, work with both hand and power tools, muck (puddle) concrete. Current rough terrain forklift, & skid steer certification is preferred. Training and complying with all safety rules, and performing without constant supervision are also requirements of this position.
Physical Demands:
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. Employee must be able to access work areas through manways, inspection doors, etc. and pass tests for use of SCBAs and respirators. Employee must not have any condition that would prohibit them from safely operating equipment at all times, nor should the employee be on any medication that would impair any senses (hearing, vision, reflexes, manual dexterity, ability to remain alert, etc.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must wear all company or project required personal protective equipment (PPE), regularly work in outside weather conditions, be aware of close moving mechanical parts, and perform in high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Employee must also be able to work scheduled/ unscheduled overtime, per the needs of the project (weekends and holidays included).
