Job title: Pipe Welder
Reports to: Shop Foreman, Superintendent, and Trades Manager
Position Description: Responsible for performing pipe welds on various types of metal being fabricated or erected in place on an active construction project or within a fabrication shop or industrial plant.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
•Join metallic pipe components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment and techniques in the construction of piping systems
•Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
•Determine required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques to meet project specifications
•Develop templates and other work aids to hold and align parts
•Cut and grind parts using hand and power tools such as portable grinder, hand file, torch, and arc welding equipment
•Operate various types of welding machines and supporting hand tools or related equipment as well as forklifts and aerial lifts
•Assist with overall site safety and quality programs as required (including daily participation in Pre-Task Plans) and ensure Trade employees/subcontractors compliance with Turner standards and all applicable safety codes, regulations, and jobsite security
•Inspect all tools and power tools before use to ensure they are in safe and working condition
•Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees
•Display a high level of teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations
•Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned

•Minimum of three (3) years of pipe welding experience
•Ability to pass a pre-employment weld test (bend and or/ X Ray)
•Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
•Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule
•Must be able to comprehend safety instructions and signage, communicate effectively in emergency situations and understand written safety instructions from tool and equipment manufacturers
•Clear verbal communication skills, active listening skills, and ability to ask clarifying questions and follow through on assignments
•Ability to travel and accommodate night and weekend work as needed
•Valid Driver’s License preferred
