•Set up and operate manual or semi-automatic wire feed welders to repair castings to specifications. Complete all related welding records associated with repairs.
•Perform all operations including set ups, tacking, clamping, laying out, cutting (all processes), scarfing, grinding and blending to repair casting defects identified through a variety of inspection methods. Restore castings to close tolerance (finished) specifications and appearance. Work is subject to NDT and dimensional inspection.
•Work from drawings, sketches and specifications using a variety of measuring tools to check tolerances and interpass temperatures.
•Assist in development of new techniques for repair of castings.
•Perform Fabrication welding as needed.
•Extensive hand TIG experience. MIG, stick subarc and machine welding experience also valuable.
•Familiar with use of crane and other lifting devices.
•Certifiable in all department weld requirements.
•Able to lift, push, pull, carry loads up to 50 lbs.
•Welds must pass penetrant and x-ray inspections.
