About this Role
Helper/Laborer for Southern Electric Corporation Employees in these personnel classifications must be alert and capable of working in construction or industrial environments around moving machinery and complex work situations and must be arduous and receptive to instructions and procedures involving light, heavy and/or manual tasks requiring physical exertion.
What You’ll Do
•Adheres to all Company Safety and Health Policies while conducting Company business.
•Shall attend training classes as prescribed by the Training Department.
•Works under the direct observation of a Journeyman Lineman and/or other Supervision to assist the Journeyman Lineman and/or other Apprentice Lineman in the installation, maintenance and repair of electric-power, generation, transmission and distribution equipment, underground cables, and related facilities.
•May be required to work on or near energized parts, but only under the direct observation of a Journeyman Lineman and/or a Journeyman Lineman Foreman.
•Could be required to assist in setting guard poles, string lead line, and string conductor.
•Could be required to assist in the sleeving, sagging, clipping, and dead ending conductors, shield wires and fiber cables.
What You’ll Bring
•May be required to relocate as work requirements demand.
•May work in storm restoration operations to rebuild and/or repair damaged power systems.
•May attend training classes or seminars to gather knowledge of new processes, safety regulations and/or refresher training.
•Works with supervision.Physical Qualifications
•Lifting and handling materials up to 60 pounds unassisted.
•These employees must be able bodied and free of physical impairment.
•Walking and working across uneven terrain.
•Exposure to hot and cold weather conditions
•Climbing on and off large trucks and equipment.
