Job description
Position Summary
The Painter’s duties will include:
•
Repairing and maintaining all paintable surfaces on the grounds of MMHI.
•
Observing all safety and fire regulations pertaining to the use and storage of paints, ladders, scaffolding and other materials and equipment pertinent to the painting trade.
•
Observing Institute policies regarding patient security and safety.
Salary Information
The starting salary will be up to $42.33 per hour. The classification of the position is Crafts Worker LTE and is in pay schedule and range is 18/00.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. Those who are determined to be Wisconsin Retirement System eligible may be paid no more than 93% of the applicable Maximum LTE Rate.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed to these positions will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by MMHI, or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
Appointment is contingent upon passing a fitness assessment. Prior to appointment, all applicants must pass a pre-employment physical ability and agility screen which could include tasks such as lifting and kneeling.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
•
Completion of one of the following:
•
Completed an apprenticeship approved by the Department of Workforce Development as a painter.
OR
•
<li>Formal recognition of Painter status by the appropriate international or local trade organization or some type of similar validation of journey level status.
OR
•
<li>Evidence of at least 6,240 hours total of exterior and interior preparation and finish, paper hanging, decorating, spraying/rigging and care/use of tools and equipment including related instruction and safety procedures.
•
Ability to climb ladders and work at heights up to 45 feet.
•
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
