This position provides minor repairs and upkeep to assigned building and grounds areas, as well as some custodial functions. Other duties include mowing lawns and other grounds maintenance activities, plowing snow and snow removal from walk areas. All work is done in compliance with all regulatory requirements for job performance.
Starting pay for the Facilities Repair Worker will be $17.46 per hour, plus an excellent benefits package. This position is in pay schedule/ range 03-10. For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
The ability to travel is required. This position travels throughout the southeast corner of Wisconsin.
A 12-month probationary period will be required.
Minimally qualified applicants will have:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy to drive a state vehicle.
The ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Well qualified candidates will also have:
Experience with general repair and maintenance of building and grounds.
Experience with snow removal.
Experience with lawn care practices (lawn mowing, tree trimming/removal, etc.).
Experience practicing safety precautions with maintenance equipment and utilizing proper lifting techniques.
Experience in small engine maintenance/minor repairs.
Experience using boom lifts and/ or scissors lifts.
State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy:
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Minimum of two year’s driving experience.
Must be 18 years of age of older.
Additionally, the driving record must not reflect the following conditions:
3 or more moving violations (with point reductions) and/or at fault accidents in the past 2 years.
An OWI or DUI violation within the past 12 months.
A suspension or revocation of the driver’s license.
