Job Description

This is a 2nd Shift position.
Job Responsibilities
Primary Job Responsibilities:
•Set up and operate CNC lathes/mills to perform machining operations such as turning, boring, threading, facing etc. on metallic parts of cast iron, stainless steel, brass, bronze, carbon steels, or non-metallic parts of plastic or Teflon. Work according to specifications, tooling instructions and knowledge of machining procedures. Read prints and factory work orders for specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cuts and cutting tools.
•Position and secure tooling set-up. Insert workpiece into position and secure it by such methods such as mounting between centers, inserting in chuck or clamping to face plate. Select method of holding workpiece which may include making arbor/jaws to complete job at hand.
•Adjust controls to set cutting speed and feed rate and to position tool in relation to workpiece and run machine.
•Verify workpiece machined for correct specifications to tolerances as close as .001 with the use of such measuring instruments as micrometer, vernier caliper, depth gauges and other measuring tools.
•Procure first piece inspection approval.
•Responsible for keeping machine clean and lubricated and for maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
•Perform duties in accordance with company safety policies. Report unsafe conditions.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Background & Skills
Basic Qualifications:
•Must be able to read and interpret complex blue prints
•Must be competent in the use of calipers, micrometers, verniers, indicators and various other measuring instruments.
•Must have the equivalent of one (1) or more years of experience in set up and operation of CNC mills and/or lathes.
•Responsible for verification adherence to all applicable quality standards.
