Vacancies exist for the position of Pre-Apprentice Heavy Equipment & Transport. Please see the attached job description and outline for the pre-employment testing details.
Normal Minimum Requirements
•One year minimum experience working with heavy equipment. Three or more years of experience with heavy equipment preferred.
•Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
•Must possess a valid up-to-date driver’s license with the ability to maintain
•Must have the ability to pass a background check obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with applicable endorsements
•Must have the ability to obtain a Crane Certification
•Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
•Ability to work with fellow workers and customers in a team environment
•Required to be available to work overtime, shiftwork and in inclement weather
•Ability to demonstrate problem solving skills and attention to detail
•Physical ability to bend, stoop, lift, climb and carry tools for extended periods of time

There will be a three-part testing process required for this position. The first step is written technical skills test followed by a physical assessment and a behavioral based interview. Each part of the process must be passed to progress to the next.
We are providing a study outline to prepare for both the computer testing and the behavioral based interview. The outline is designed to maximize test results by centralizing study time in the areas listed below:

Behavioral Based Interview
The interview is a behavioral-based interview incorporating Tucson Electric Power Core Competencies. We believe past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior, and more recent behavior, is a better predictor of future behavior than older behavior, and long-standing trends are better predictors of behavior than isolated incidents. We therefore have patterned the questions during the interview to solicit behavior patterns that indicate with higher predictability whether the candidate can perform the job as required. This type of interview is different than those you may have taken in the past.

Position Description
An employee who is in the entry classification in the section, and who is expected to perform all the basic duties in connection with construction, operation and maintenance performed by personnel in the section to which he/she is assigned. This employee will be expected to move into the apprenticeship program in their respective craft at the time it is offered. This Pre-Apprentice period will not be less than one year.
Position-Related Responsibilities
•Assist personnel in the department they are assigned to complete their day to day tasks
•He/she may perform work as an individual. The work for which they perform will be in conformance with training and safe work practices.
•Must be able to take directions and have a willingness learn.
•Will move into the formal apprenticeship when offered
•Perform assigned work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with Company practices and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Must become familiar with the basic skills inherent in the Journeyman classification in which they are aligned and able to do within the confines of their training and ability to perform such tasks safely.
•This employee possesses the ability to learn the required duties and the physical coordination necessary to use tools and equipment associated with his/her work area.
•Must have a basic understanding and complies with all TEP Safety rules and regulations
•Required to obtain a CDL operators license.
•This employee must possess an awareness to provide a high level of customer satisfaction.
•This employee will maintain a high level of awareness and responsibility for environmental considerations that impact them, their jobs and the Company to the level of their knowledge, training and experience.
•This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.
