Position Summary:
The Millwright Apprentice learns to provide maintenance, installation, and operational services for manufacturing systems with the goal of developing the skills and acquiring the education to become a carded Journey Millwright.
Duties/Responsibilities:
•Comply with safety standards at all times and correct/report any observed safety hazards.
•Follow all rules and standards set forth by the Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI), the apprenticeship committee, and work location to maintain good standing.
•Learn to troubleshoot, install, lubricate, replace, and repair machines and equipment including mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
•Learn to fabricate parts and assemble machinery as needed.
•Learn to safely use hoists, lift trucks, hand tools and power tools.
•Write, update, and complete workorders and quick reports as needed and communicate daily to supervisor.
•Perform additional duties as required by Maintenance Supervisor and Journey Millwrights.
•On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities.
Position Requirements: Must meet position requirements to be considered a candidate for this position.
•Ability to meet the entrance requirements adopted by the Klamath Basin Industrial TATC and approved by the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries’ Oregon State Apprenticeship and Training Council. These requirements include possessing a high school diploma or the equivalent.
•Possess a basic understanding of welding, cutting, fitting; troubleshooting equipment and systems (including pneumatic and hydraulic systems); maintaining machinery; operating machinery; and the use of tools related to the trade preferred.
•Ability to provide own basic tools to perform routine millwright activities.
•Ability to follow all company, state and federal safety rules when performing required job duties.
•Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal history check and a pre-employment drug screening.
Environmental Conditions:
May be exposed to dust, noise, trip hazards, and variable weather and temperatures.
Required Personal Protective Equipment:
Individuals must be willing to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Positions may require additional PPE at specific times. Examples of PPE which may be required include high visibility garments, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, a hard hat, foot protection, a face shield, and a respirator.
