PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The maintenance, repair and installation of air conditioning, heating and building automation systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•High school diploma or equivalent preferred
•Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and meet/maintain insurance requirements of PISD
•Must pass drug test and be part of a random drug testing program
•Must pass criminal history check
•No experience required, one year preferred
•Willing to progress in skill level
Special Knowledge/Skills/Experience
•Demonstrate general knowledge of operation, maintenance, installation, and repair of work related systems of designated craft
•Demonstrate the ability to work unsupervised
•Hold EPA Certification in refrigerant recovery or be able to obtain one within one year of taking the position
•General knowledge of tools used in designated craft
•Demonstrate ability to follow verbal and written instructions
•No experience required, one year preferred. Willing to progress in skill level.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITITIES AND DUTIES:
•Assist with installation, maintenance and repair of commercial HVAC equipment and BAS systems
•Complete work orders as requested
•Assist with the repairs of major HVAC equipment such as compressors, pumps, motors, and other related equipment under supervision of licensed HVAC technician
•Complete preventative maintenance of equipment as assigned
•Must have working knowledge of computer systems in regards to email, work order, and time entry systems
•Assist other crafts as needed
•Must be willing to respond to occasional after hour emergencies
•Perform other duties as assigned
Equipment Used:
Electrical Test Equipment, vacuum pumps, computer, refrigerant recovery
machine, hand tools and poof the trade, personnel and material equipment, pipe
threading and cutting equipment

Ability to communicate effective (verbal); maintain emotional control under
stress; interpret policy, procedures, and data, coordinate district functions
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Strenuous walking, standing, climbing and heavy lifting; must have use of all
faculties; must be able to work from ladders and elevated platforms; work
outside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and
materials; may work on slippery and uneven surfaces
