JOB DESCRIPTION
Air Compressor Technician
QUALIFICATIONS - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE - A high school diploma or GED is required. 3 years experience maintaining air compressors. Capable of trouble shooting air compressors and compressed air system problems. Three years’ experience in the building maintenance industry or accredited trade school degree in HVAC, electronic, or other industry related trade preferred. Should be knowledgeable in the safe and proper use of the following tools: ladders, lifts, basic hand tools, voltmeter, safety goggles, ear protection, and fire extinguisher.
LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as load balancing, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Have the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format. PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb ladders; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT - The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to loud environment, moving mechanical parts and heights up to 12 feet. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions as well as very cold and uncomfortable heat while inside and out of the facility. The noise level in the work environment is at times moderately loud.

JOB SUMMARY
Air Compressor Technician will: Be responsible in the hands-on operation, maintenance, monitoring and repairs of Industrial air compressors and the compressed air system on a large campus. Must have a through understanding of air compressor operation and compressed air system operation. Candidate will also be expected to communicate with vendors, order parts, maintain spare parts stock, monitor projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSABLITIES includes but not limited to the following.
Trouble shoot problems with compressors. Diagnosing and perform repairs on air compressor auxiliary components such as unloader valves, heat exchangers, oil temperature control valves, oil hoses, temperature and pressure sensors etc.
Performing Routine Preventative Maintenance including but not limited to: Monitoring equipment operation, oil changes, oil filters, air filters, belts, oil sampling, record keeping.

(1) 400 cfm Screw compressors
(3) 200 cfm Screw compressors
(2) 120 cfm Screw compressors
(15) reciprocating compressors
(8) Desiccant air dryers
(6) Refrigerant air dryers
General
Completes all preventive maintenance (PMs) as assigned.
May perform other duties as assigned by Engineering Manager.
Overtime as needed and approved to assist maintenance if needed, assist with scheduled steam plant maintenance shutdowns and chiller plant maintenance shutdowns.
Complies with all policies and procedures established for the building, including safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials while maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
Actively participates in emergency response procedures, technical and safety training programs.
Perform all work using the proper safety equipment and in a safe manner.
Normal workweek is Monday thru Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
Estimated total compensation ran for this position is:
85,000.00 - 94,000.00 USD per year
The pay range listed is a total compensation range including bonus, if applicable. The provided range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data.
