What this job involves: We are hiring a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team in Syracuse, NY. In this role, you will provide support to our major global pharmaceutical client by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across all systems. Your responsibilities will include carpentry work, plumbing, sheet metal maintenance, and troubleshooting. Additionally, you will be involved in patching and painting various areas, maintaining locking mechanisms and doors, performing roofing repairs, and ensuring the proper functioning of plumbing components. You will also analyze system operations, complete assigned work, conduct preventive maintenance tasks, and comply with safety protocols. This position requires proficiency in handling tools, working at heights, and operating necessary equipment.
What your day-to-day will look like:
•Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across all systems, with a strong emphasis on hands-on work.
•Demonstrate proficiency in carpentry, plumbing, sheet metal, sheetrock maintenance, and troubleshooting.
•Patch and paint office, outdoor, and controlled work environments.
•Handle preparation, priming, and painting of building interior and exterior surfaces.
•Maintain locking mechanisms, closers, and doors.
•Perform general roofing repairs.
•Repair and maintain plumbing components such as toilets, urinals, lavatories, flush valves, sinks, drains, water heaters, piping, and sump pumps.
•Analyze system operations, identify and resolve any malfunctions or issues.
•Complete daily/weekly work assignments, including being on-call and performing additional duties as required.
•Oversee the operation, repair, preventive maintenance, and installation of piping and valves related to plumbing systems.
•Conduct preventive maintenance on base building and critical system equipment, ensuring minimal disruption, proper cleanup, and thorough reporting.
•Understand the engineering design and operational aspects of the building and critical support systems, capable of troubleshooting and responding to operational and emergency situations.
•Assess malfunctioning equipment and determine corrective actions required for restoration.
•Provide customer interface, including communicating with work order requestors and coordinating with client representatives to schedule repairs.
•Execute work efficiently, minimizing disruption and inconvenience.
•Drive team efficiency and provide oversight as needed.
•Adhere to departmental policies regarding the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
•Complete all required training and comply with established training standards.
•Maintain tools and order supplies for installations and repairs.
•Ensure a clean and safe working environment, promptly addressing any environmental health and safety concerns.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:15 AM - 4:00 PM
Desired or preferred experience and technical skills:
•Previous experience working in a Life Sciences or Medical facility a plus.
Required Skills and Experience
•Strong knowledge and experience with piping/plumbing systems and mechanical systems.
•Proficient conflict resolution skills.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•Good interpersonal skills; able to effectively communicate in both written and verbal reports.
•Basic computer skills proficiency.
•Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50lbs.
•Comfortable working at heights and performing overhead work.
•Skilled and physically capable of operating electric hand tools, working on ladders, carrying tools, lifting heavy loads, operating necessary equipment, and operating a motor vehicle.
•Capable of working in confined spaces such as closets, crawl spaces, attics, vaults, etc.
•Able to work on rooftops of buildings.

Estimated total compensation range for this position is:
41,600.00 - 54,080.00 USD per year
The pay range listed is a total compensation range including bonus, if applicable. The provided range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data.
