Description & Requirements
The Boiler Operator /Utility Mechanic provides support in the Utility / Refrigeration field to all plant personnel in the maintenance and operation of all equipment and processes. Contributes technical and working with team toward total quality. Always works in a manner to promote safety, quality, and teamwork. The class III Boiler Operator /Utility Mechanic must perform all duties listed as well as all class II requirements.
Primary Role and Responsibilities:
•Must have the ability to work alone after a maximum of 180 days
•Some understanding of ammonia refrigeration
•Basic electricity knowledge
•Familiar with motor systems
•Written communication skills
•Use of shop / hand tools
•Knowledgeable in sprinkler / alarm system
•Utility trouble shooting skills
•Working knowledge of P.S.M.
Other:
•Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with and direct others
•Strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, and other quality rules and procedures
•Self-starter, willing to initiate work, Direct others requires a minimum of supervision.
•Strict adherence to all safety rules and procedures (such as lockout/tagout, HAZWOPER)
•Housekeeping and sanitation.
•Any other duties as directed by members of management.
•Willing to attend training on-site and off-site for job development.
•Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member.
Physical Requirements:
•Must be able to work any and all shifts.
•Base: 3rd shift (9pm to 5am)
•This position requires the ability to lift up to a minimum of 80lbs and a High degree of mobility (such as; climbing, squatting, kneeling, extending etc.)
Work experience requirements:
•Strong mechanical skills
•Member of Hazwopper team
•Work with no supervision
•5 + years of hands on utility experience
•80% on written boiler tests
