Work Scope:
Job Summary: The Fabrication Welder is responsible for laying out, fitting, and fabricating metal components to assemble structural forms in a mechanical or industrial environment. This role requires intermediate-level expertise in welding techniques, metallurgy, and interpreting engineering specifications.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
•Interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan accurate layouts.
•Weld small and large components such as copper plumbing, beams, brackets, and pipelines.
•Perform tack and full welds using appropriate methods and materials.
•Use specialized machinery for industrial welding and oversee automated welding processes.
•Inspect welds to ensure structural soundness and compliance with quality standards.
•Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair welding equipment and tools.
•Assess welded surfaces and components to identify and correct defects.
•Operate precision measuring tools to verify weld alignment and specifications.
•Follow and enforce all safety regulations - including wearing proper PPE such as heat-resistant gloves, welding helmets, and safety footwear.
•Monitor equipment for proper usage, temperature, and function.
•Weld components in flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions.
•Work effectively in a fabrication shop or field environment, including outdoor and elevated workspace conditions.
•Maintain a positive attitude, dependability, and strong work ethic while working independently or within a team.
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or GED required
•Valid welding certification from an accredited institution preferred
•Minimum of 2 years’ welding experience in fabrication, industrial, or mechanical environments
•Strong knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and hand tools
•Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
•Excellent attention to detail, safety awareness, and craftsmanship
