POSITION: Electrician
DEPARTMENT: Facilities
REPORTS TO: Building and Facilities Manager
PRIMARY FUNCTION
To perform skilled electrical work in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment. Perform skilled electrical work of high and low voltage electrical systems in schools and other sites, including panel boards, lighting systems, motor circuits, heating systems, control switches, and light fixtures. Perform task of wiring motors, transformers and motion sensors and other electrical equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
•
A combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to completion of a recognized electrical apprentice training program and a minimum of four years diversified Journeyman level electrician experience.
•
Possession of a Valid Indiana Driver’s License/Drive a Truck
•
Available to respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis. (On-call)
•
Personality and Character suitable for working on school grounds
•
Knowledge of materials, tools, and methods common to the trade
•
Reading and writing English communication skills
•
Work from blueprints in installing and remodeling circuits
•
Able to withstand heights up to minimum of 100 ft and operate a man lift
•
Familiarity with single and three-phase electrical power
•
Running and installation of conduit
•
Strength and energy to maintain a rigorous work schedule and or continuous heavy physical exertion, hearing and speaking to exchange information, seeking to perform assigned duties; standing for extended periods of time; Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment; kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to perform assigned duties, lifting heavy objects.
DUTIES
•
Perform skilled electrical work in the inspection, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of low and high voltage electrical systems and equipment in district buildings, including panel boards, lighting systems, motor circuits, heating systems, control switches and light fixtures
•
Install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose and repair a variety of machinery and motors in permanent building systems including air conditioning and heating equipment, electric controllers, relays, belts, bearings, blowers, exhaust fans and pumps. Recommend outside contractor for this work if necessary to Director of Facilities
•
Routinely perform work on live circuits up to 600 volts during and after school hours to prevent electrical power disruption to school classrooms and facilities
•
Install various sized conduit underground, on interior and exterior building surfaces, above ceilings and on rooftops

regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, sit, climb, use
hands to finger, feel, reach with hands and arms, taste or smell. The
employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently life
and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100
pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close
vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and
ability to adjust focus.
