Job Summary
EMCOR Facilities Services has an immediate opening for an Electrician in Suffolk, VA. The Electrician will report daily to the EMCOR Site Supervisor and support him to provide quality workmanship and high work standards to maintain a professional working environment. Primary responsibilities of this position are to be responsible for the more complex electrical issues associated with facility and performing general maintenance of equipment as required. Knowledge of and capable to perform electrical maintenance/repairs and various general tasks assigned. Qualified applicant must be a US Citizen, possess a valid driver’s license and have at least 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience working in an office/commercial facility maintaining the electrical responsibilities and dealing with a wide range of general maintenance type services. Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills. Position provides quality control using guidelines from the National Electrical Code, local codes, safety regulations and EMCOR standard practices.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
•
Communicate effectively with the Site Supervisor to determine service needs. Coordinate and supervise client subcontractors while performing on-site services.
•
Perform electrical maintenance and repairs, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment and other facility-related systems. Maintain building lighting, task lighting, parking lot lighting, lighting contactors, emergency lights/exit lights, 120-volt outlets, and lighting contactors controlled by the energy management system.
•
Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, MCC circuits, variable frequency drives, and lighting fixtures; replace damaged parts, broken wires, cables, and connections.
•
Monitor and make adjustments to building automation systems.
•
Assist the team in maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting electrical systems, emergency generators, lighting systems, and general facility maintenance issues, including plumbing, exterior landscaping, and parking/walkway maintenance.
•
Perform a wide variety of corrective and general maintenance work requests and support teammates in other skill areas (HVAC, general maintenance, and warehouse support) as needed.
•
Complete accurate and timely paperwork related to duties and responsibilities. Use computer skills to manage, receive, complete, and document work orders and preventive maintenance tasks through the CMMS system.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
•
Successfully completed an Apprenticeship Program. Must be 21 years old or older.
Business Experience
•
Four years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses/Certifications
•
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
•
Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance; active clearance preferred.
•
Apprentice Electrical license or Journeyman license a plus.
•
NFPA 70E training.
Language Skills
•
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
•
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
•
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Technical Qualifications & Skills
•
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
•
Ability to communicate effectively in person and via email.
•
Knowledge, skills, and abilities representative of electrical, general facility maintenance, and teamwork competencies.
