Position Summary
As a Facilities Maintenance Specialist - Advanced you will be responsible for the following duties:
•Performing complex skilled maintenance tasks independently on a wide variety of mechanical equipment throughout the facility including food service, health care and laundry, residential appliances, and various other mechanical repairs needed at the institution.
•Performing HVAC maintenance including but not limited to water boilers, heating and cooling ventilation, replacing parts, electronic and pneumatic control systems.
•Providing backup for and assistance to the HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist, plumber and electrician.
Salary Information
The starting pay is $25.57 per hour (approximately $53,100 per year), plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. The positions are in pay schedule and range 03/13.
Job Details
•All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SRSTC or medical personnel approved by the facility within 30 days of hire.
•All applicants who may be appointed will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
•DHS does not sponsor work visas for these positions, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.
•Physical requirements may include but are not limited to lifting up to 50 lbs.; bending, twisting, crawling, and working on feet for sustained periods of time; and climbing on ladders. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.
•Applicants must meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy:
•Must have a valid driver’s license.
•Must have minimum of two years non-probationary licensed driving experience with a regular (Class D) driver’s license.
•Must be 18 years of age of older.
Additionally, the driving record must not reflect the following conditions:
•3 or more moving violations (with point reductions) and/or at fault accidents in the past 2 years.
•An OWI or DUI violation within the past 12 months.
•A suspension or revocation of the driver’s license.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
•Experience with general repairs and preventative maintenance, which may include lubrication of equipment, welding, plumbing, etc.
•Experience in the operation of at least one of the following: forklift, powered pallet jacks, skid steer, mower, snowplow, UTV, etc.
•Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy (described above) to drive a state vehicle.
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
•Training and/or experience with HVAC repairs.
•Training and/or experience maintaining or repairing commercial and/or residential appliances such as washers, dryers, freezers, stoves, etc.
•Forklift and/or confined space certified.
