Under supervision, the Apprentice Ironworker is responsible for completing tasks related to structural iron and steel erection and completing the tasks in a timely, quality manner while learning trade and practicing/studying to become Journeyman level.
•Unloading, shake-out and erection of structural and miscellaneous iron from trucks to designated areas and/or from one area to another.
•Bolt-up columns, beams, and girders with bolts, following blueprints and instructions from supervisors.
•Detail Work may include installing angle and bent plate, welding clips, joists, tube steel or angle kickers; installing safety cable and safety posts; or shaking out and spreading joists and long spans.
•Laying deck and welding with Tek Screws.
•Pull, push, or pry structural-steel members into approximate positions for bolting into place.
•Complete apprentice self -study modules until Journeyman certification is obtained
•Perform related duties as assigned
