The HVAC Youth Apprenticeship Program is seeking motivated and driven individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. This program will provide a comprehensive learning experience in various HVAC and Career based skills. The apprentice will work in a rotation of job assignments alongside experienced professionals and learn hands-on skills in installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems in both an on the job and classroom environment. Responsibilities: - Learn the basic parts and material used in HVAC installations and repairs. - Assist in the gathering of material and equipment and preparing jobs for next day installs. - Assist with data entry and the permit process for install jobs. - Follow safety procedures and guidelines. - Communicate effectively with team members and clients. Requirements: - Must be enrolled in the Maryland Youth Apprenticeship Program - Ability to work well in a team environment - Strong communication skills - Willingness to learn and take direction - Basic knowledge of math and science (Addition, Subtraction, Reading Temperatures, Familiar with the states of matter.) Class Curriculum: - Introduction to HVAC systems and components - Basic refrigeration principles and practices - Refrigeration cycle and components - Refrigerant types and properties - Basic Tools and Materials used in the HVAC industry - Installation and maintenance of refrigeration systems - Safety procedures and guidelines The curriculum will be delivered through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on training, and on-the-job experience. Upon completion of the program, apprentices will have acquired the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue a career in the HVAC industry and will be prepared for entry-level positions in the field.
