Tegra Medical is seeking a Precision Laser Welding Technician Apprentice to join our Franklin, MA facility. The Laser Welding Apprentice will be fully engaged in an intense State Approved training curriculum designed to develop the next Tegra Medical Precision Laser Welding Technicians. Training will consist of 6,000 hours of hands-on and online /classroom training. Due to the significant investment by Tegra and the selected individual, a letter of understanding will be drawn up and signed by both parties.
Role and Responsibilities
Operate machines, achieving Traveler and print specifications including quality and throughput.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Perform ERP system transactions.
Monitor process and specifications, stop when an issue is identified. If changes are required, shut down process and see Setup Person or Department Lead.
Perform own part inspection during laser process to measure work piece to check to match specs, using measuring instruments such as microscope, optical comparator, micrometer, caliper, dial indicators and gauges.
Simultaneous to laser operation, perform a variety of secondary operations as required ex. cleaning parts, cleaning work areas and assisting others within department.
Maintain own Traveler records consisting of online courses, section goals and progress.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
H.S. Diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of a vocational school in manufacturing/machining or engineering discipline is a plus.
Ability to work with small diameter parts requiring tight tolerances and high-quality finishes.
Ability to read blueprints/drawings and follow work instructions.
Experience in a small device manufacturing environment as a CNC Machining Operator is preferred.
Experience operating Lasag, Kohler, Coherent/Rofin or IPG Lasers is helpful.
Hours of Work: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM must be flexible based on training availability.
As stated above due to the significant investment by Tegra Medical and the selected individual, a letter of understanding will be drawn up and signed by both parties.
A two-year employment commitment to Tegra Medical after program completion is expected.
