This is a 3-4-year competency-based Maintenance Technician Development program. This program has been developed to meet the needs of qualified Maintenance Technicians in the Lafayette, IN facility, through on-the-job training and an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) study program. After entry into the program, the trainee must complete 4 levels of written and hands-on assessments to verify knowledge and skill within their specific craft at each level. Trainees are assigned to various training stations with specific learning activities throughout the facility that pertain to their specific craft, and will rotate between first, second and third shifts as needed to complete the learning objectives. Upon successful completion of the program, the trainee will be promoted to level 6 Maintenance Technician - Journeyman Machine Repairman, within the Facilities Engineering group.
The applicant must be willing to take a variety of written and hands-on assessments and complete required learning assignments with subject study and specific homework assignments on their own time. The applicant will also be required to work all shifts IE: first, second & third shifts, work at heights, climb ladders, work underground, and in confined spaces. They should be willing to work overtime, such as weekends, holidays and shutdowns and must not be colorblind.
Successful candidates will graduate from the Maintenance Technician Development program to a 2nd or 3rd shift opening determined later. It is incumbent that the applicant takes the lead in his or her own learning by proactively working on their own individual learning plan and with the journeyman tradesmen mentors.
Basic Qualifications:
•Strong computer hardware, network and software skills and knowledge.
•Basic mechanical/electrical skills, hydraulics, pneumatics

•Willing to work overtime (weekends, holidays, shutdown)
•Possess a willing to learn attitude
Physical Requirements:
•Candidates for all positions must have the ability to work in a fast pace, medium to heavy duty assembly, technical environment.
•Work may involve frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing, and standing on concrete for 8+ hours.
•All positions also require the ability to lift 40 pounds and withstand frequent repetitive movement of hands with a variety of tooling.
•Must be able to work in heights and confirmed spaces

•Location of this position is in Lafayette, IN
•Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected applicant.
•Shift to be determined after apprenticeship is completed.
