Gas Pipefitter Apprentice
Are you ready to start the next journey in your career? A four-year paid training program that could take you to the journey level…where you will be taught and prepared to safely perform construction, installation, repair, and maintenance of utility gas service lines and mains. You have come to the right place to learn more about this program and opportunity.
If you are focused, self-sufficient, can handle multiple projects at once, work effectively under pressure, prioritize tasks, and can communicate on a strong level, then our Gas Pipefitter Apprenticeship program will be the perfect place for you. We are certified through the Department of Labor (DOL) and consist of a combination of both classroom and on-the-job training.
Please note that this position is part of a formal Gas Pipefitter Apprenticeship administered by Colorado Springs Utilities. As such, the pay for this position will begin at $29.71/hour and will progress throughout the apprenticeship based on the pay schedule below (subject to change):
•Step 1 - $29.71/hr. (1st year)
•Step 2 - $30.95/hr. (1st year)
•Step 3 - $32.60/hr. (2nd year)
•Step 4 - $34.25/hr. (2nd year)
•Step 5 - $37.55/hr. (3rd year)
•Step 6 - $38.37/hr. (3rd year)
•Step 7 - $39.20/hr. (4th year)
•Step 8 - $40.02/hr. (4th year)
•Journey Level Turnout - $41.26/hr.
What to look forward to:
•Assisting in installing gas mains and service lines, repairs, and maintenance
•Using hand-operated electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic power tools to assist with the construction and maintenance projects… but don't forget that safety is one of our top priorities
•Connecting and inspecting gas mains and service lines
•Operating gas construction excavation equipment
•Responding to emergencies and assisting in any sort of repairs
Qualifications we seek:
•Completion or any amount of construction/ trade experience is highly valued
•Possession of a valid, unrestricted Driver's License is required
•High School Diploma or GED
•Successful candidates will be self-directed and motivated to advance through the program by obtaining required knowledge, on-the-job training, scheduling evaluations, and passing the written testing requirements along the way
