The very first IBEW Local #1 was established in 1891 in a room above Stolley’s Dance Hall in St. Louis, Missouri. The number IBEW 558 was first allocated in 1907 to a Local in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, which went defunct one year later in December of 1907.
